It is easy-peasy to gift an ebook, unless it is free. That shoots down my fabulous idea of an excellent and free last minute Christmas gift for the an unexpected guest.
I am not giving up on the ebook idea, though. There is an abundance of bargain priced ebooks on Amazon and Nook and it is incredibly simple.
Step by Step instructions for Amazon:
Navigate to Amazon.com and search for Kindle Book Deals or click HERE
Choose a book.
On the right side of the screen, scroll down to Give as Gift and click it.
You will then be able to choose:
Email the gift directly to my recipient (you will need their email address) or Email the gift to me
You can forward the gift email or print and personally deliver it to the recipient. This nice for the unexpected guest. You can also personalize the gift with a message.
If you feel overwhelmed with all the books on Amazon, visit my favorite site for Flinch Free Reads, Clean Indie Reads. They have a short Q&A with the author and links to their books.
Instructions for Nook are basically the same. Just sign in to Barnes and Noble.
Of course, we would be honored if you chose to gift a book from one of our authors!
USA Today Bestselling Author Shanna Hatfield joins us with her latest release, a sweet World War II romance.
Thank you so much for hosting me today. It’s such a pleasure to be here with you!
We are excited to host you! Onisha is a big fan.
I thought you and your readers might like to meet one of the characters from the story, a rascally boy named Petey.
Welcome, Petey. Thank you for joining us today.
Petey: Golly! Thanks for letting me visit!
You live on the farm next to Miko’s grandparents’ farm. What do you think of her?
Petey: Miko’s the limit, and I mean The Limit. You can capitalize that and take it to the bank, but she’s as good an egg as ever was laid. If anyone tells you different, it’s applesauce with a side of baloney.
You had some excitement at your house recently. How do you like your brand-new baby sister?
Petey: If Mom and Pop had to drag home a crying, pooping machine, I sure wish it would’ve been a boy. It looks like we’re stuck with Alice Marie, though. Why, you’d think she came from the royal palace the way Granny carries on. I suppose, though, for a baby, the Princess ain’t all bad.
Have you met the soldier Miko’s been helping?
Petey: Sure, I’ve met the captain. He’s a real crackerjack. Cap plays cowboys and Indians with me, and he knows how to do all kinds of things. Did you know he got injured in the war? Boom! (Slaps hands together loudly) His plane got shot down and he crashed and everything. He’s a real, honest-to-goodness hero!
That’s quite impressive.
Petey: I’ll tell it to the world, he’s the cat’s pajamas. (Petey sighs) But I think he’s got his eye on Miko. I planned to marry her when I grew up big enough but he might just beat me to it. I reckon if someone else gets to marry her, he’s the best man for the job.
Do you have anything else you’d like to share with our readers today, Petey?
Petey: Just to remind folks to read Miko and Rock’s story. You’ll find out how I get to be a big hero if you do!
Thank you for joining us, Petey, and Shanna.
Shanna: Thank you, again for hosting us!
Can forbidden love blossom
amid the constraints of war?
The moment the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, life shifted for Miko Nishimura. Desperate to reach the Portland Assembly Center for Japanese-Americans, she’s kicked off the bus miles from town. Every tick of the clock pushes her closer to becoming a fugitive in the land of her birth. Exhausted, she stumbles to her grandparents’ abandoned farm only to find a dying soldier sprawled across the step. Unable to leave him, she forsakes all else to keep him alive.
After crashing his plane in the Battle of the Atlantic, the doctors condemn Captain Rock Laroux to die. Determined to meet his maker beneath a blue sky at his family home, he sneaks out of the hospital. Weary and half out of his mind, he makes it as far as a produce stand he remembers from his youth. Rather than surrender to death, Rock fights a battle of the heart as he falls in love with the beautiful Japanese woman who saves his life.
A poignant, sweet romance, Garden of Her Heart proves love can bloom in unlikely places even under the most challenging circumstances.
Hi friends, Onisha here. I just finished reading this incredible novel. I am pretty sure it was the compelling story as much as my nasty night time cough that kept me awake for hours. Miko and Captain Rock Laroux are characters you want to know better and root for while Petey provides humor and I loved his fiercely loyal heart.
USA Today Bestselling Author Shanna Hatfield writes character-driven romances with relatable heroes and heroines. Her historical westerns have been described as “reminiscent of the era captured by Bonanza and The Virginian” while her contemporary works have been called “laugh-out-loud funny, and a little heart-pumping sexy without being explicit in any way.”
Convinced everyone deserves a happy ending, this hopeless romantic is out to make it happen, one story at a time. When she isn’t writing or indulging in chocolate (dark and decadent, please), Shanna hangs out with her husband, lovingly known as Captain Cavedweller.
Christmas is my favorite time of the year for reading. The stories are filled with hope, joy and often romance. Last year I enjoyed reading Noelle’s Golden Christmas by Tamie Dearen, (You can read me review here) so when I learned she was releasing another Christmas novel, I jumped at the chance to share it with you.
This Christmas, Haley Martin may be harder to catch than her runaway dog.
Haley has a chance at her dream job working for Holiday, Inc. There’s only one drawback. Her ex-boyfriend, Gavin Holiday is her supervisor.
Seeing Gavin again makes her heart pound and her soul ache, yet Haley knows he deserves someone better. And her secret crisis of faith is only one of the reasons.
Add one very recalcitrant Basset Hound to all her other problems, and it looks like Haley is going to have a real hangdog holiday.
In the spirit of Hallmark Movies, this inspirational romantic comedy tells the story of two young believers, struggling to find faith and love in the midst of adversity.
I have to tell you, I love this book. The author created characters you can’t help loving as they tug at your heart in one chapter then make you smile, and if you own a Bassett Hound, make you laugh. The story has all the drama and romance a reader of Christmas novels could want with the added bonus of honest insight into the complexity of learning to not only talk about faith but making it a living, breathing part of one’s life.
Bio:
Tamie Dearen has been married to her very romantic husband since 1982. They have two beautiful daughters, two amazing son-in-laws, and one awesome grandson. She plays piano, flute, harmonica, keyboards, and guitar, and loves composing and art. And she hates housework. A dentist in private practice for thirty years, Tamie stays busy playing on her church’s praise team and teaching graduate students each week. In her spare time, she escapes to the world of books.
I am including links to all of Tamie’s books as well as her contact information. You might want to sign up for her newsletter too. She always seems to have something new to share or a giveaway going on.
Good news!
This wonderful author has released a holiday novel last year too. Be sure to check it out.
As a native Floridian I’ve always felt I’ve missed out on the autumn season. The fabulous colors of the trees before they go dormant for the winter, the drop in temperatures that make Fall festivals cozy and inviting, the ritual of putting away summer clothes and airing out the winter wardrobe, are not things we experience in Florida. I admit there are some trees that change color, but they don’t offer the vibrancy that I adore when I have a chance to spend time in North Carolina during the fall.
In Florida, the months of October and November are completely unpredictable when it comes to weather. We’re still in hurricane season and more often than not the temperatures are still in the upper 80s. Shortly after Hurricane Matthew blew through, battering coastal areas, we experienced our first night of cool weather. I came home from work and the instant I stepped out of the car the fragrance of a nearby fireplace tinged the air. I couldn’t help but smile as I entered my own fireplace-less home, knowing that the holidays would soon arrive.
Surprisingly, there are more homes with fireplaces in Florida than one might imagine and the first hint of a chill always elicits at least one being ignited. I remember a childhood Christmas with the air conditioner blasting so we could enjoy the flickering magic as we opened our gifts.
Despite not being able to experience all the wonders of fall, it’s still my favorite season. This year I decided to see fall through new eyes and not dwell on what I don’t have. Instead I am finding joy in the sparse trees on my commute that are slowly changing color, taking heart in the slight drop in temperatures and throwing open the windows, enjoying the local pumpkin patch, and finding new recipes to test in anticipation of Thanksgiving and Christmas. Sometimes taking a moment to stop and adjust our perspective allows us to see how wonderfully blessed we are.

What is your favorite part of the season and what are you thankful for?
If you have browsed our books tab, you may have noticed that my Seasons of Faith series, which is set in Orlando, Florida does not include a Fall novel. The season is simply too short to set a novel, so I skipped forward to Christmas. Regardless of the weather, Christmas is alway a vibrant season in Florida. Christmas Vows is currently on sale for 99 cents. Check back soon for an exciting chance to win a free digital copy.
Footnote: Western North Carolina is being ravaged by forest fires. Please pray for them to end soon and especially for the safety of the firefighter heroes.
