Seasoned
By Mary Harwell Sayler
Spring came hobbling in
on a stick
thrown
from a dog-
wood tree
shaken down
by pollen-ridden wind.
Spring came limping
on knobby
knees of knotted pines
inflamed in
their pajamas of pink azaleas.
